3rd Annual
"Sisters - she project"

a community-wide art play time for women
in (and around) Sisters Oregon

what:

A fun chance to be creative and celebrate our ties as women. The "Sisters - she project" is modeled after the "She Project" I saw in Corvallis several years ago. The idea is to bring women together to respond to a "she phrase" with color, words, textures and images. The "she phrase" is suppose to inspire, intrique and provoke us. The project is a chance for women to gather (or not), celebrate our ties as "sisters" (either by birth or choice), let the creative juices flow, drink wine and eat chocolate!

how it works:

On Monday, September 24th, 2007 anyone who has emailed me as interested in participating will recieve a "she phrase" by email from me. You can choose to work on your art piece alone, with friends, in my studio in Tollgate, at the Arts Works Building in Sisters. The Art Station will be hosting a special session in Bend on Saturday, September 15th from 4 - 6pm. If you come to the Art Station, you will get your phrase sooner!

You are requested to follow these guidelines for your piece:

  • the artwork can be in any medium, but must fit into an 8" x 10" frame. (It would be great if you could frame your work. Thrift stores are great for picking up cheap frames! )
  • take two hours to play and respond to your "she phrase" - this is not meant to be a big deal - have fun with it!!
  • your "she phrase" needs to be included somewhere on your art piece
  • deliver it to Navigator News in Sisters (next to Bedouin) by Friday morning, September 28th, 2007

and then.....

The finished, framed pieces will be hung at Navigator News to coincide with the Sisters Chamber of Commerce sponsored "Sisters in Sisters" weekend. If you choose to donate your art piece they will be for sale for $45 a piece. All proceeds will be donated to a worthy women's cause in Central Oregon. If you do not want to donate your piece - please note it on the back of the artwork.

I want to thank all of you who have participated in the past, and hope you join us again this year. If you are interested in joining the fun email me:
